About

John Falko And The Morrigan's Tears

John Falko – Italian baritone singer and composer – boasts an eclectic thirty-year career that has taken him from the world of music to cinema and television, where he has also distinguished himself as an actor and as a radio and TV host for national digital networks. Inspired by the dark folk sounds of artists such as Death in June, Spiritual Front, and Mark Lanegan, and by the punk energy of the Dropkick Murphys, Falko founded Morrigan's Tears, a project that blends goth rock with the allure of Celtic tradition. Their debut album, Irish Prayers, is a deep dive into the world of ancient prayers connected to the Sabbats of the Celtic Wheel of the Year. Through original compositions, the band portrays the crucial moments of the annual cycle, marking seasonal transitions and celebrating the bond between humankind and nature. The lyrics explore themes of spirituality, life and death, and the ceaseless flow of vital energy. The album is conceived as a journey where sacred and profane, tradition and modernity intertwine, conveying a message of respect and reverence for the eternal cycles of nature. In their upcoming second album, Morrigan's Tears turn towards medieval-inspired soundscapes enriched with electronic elements and goth rock atmospheres, while preserving a strong folk component through the use of traditional instruments. In this new creative chapter, the band draws on influences from groups such as Tanzwut and In Extremo, renowned for merging the power of metal with the evocative charm of medieval instruments and melodies. Many of the lyrics are performed in multiple languages – Latin, French, German, and English – amplifying the mystical and cosmopolitan aura of the band.
