Litha is the longest day of the year, one of the four minor sabbaths of the Celtic calendar. The celebrations usually start at midnight on the 20th and continue until the 23rd of June. Litha is the time for celebrations, music, dances and bonfires: all to honor the Sun God and encourage him to reach his maximum power. Midsummer Night's Eve is the most important Wiccan celebration connected to fairy folklore. This holiday represents the Sun in all its glory. It is the celebration of passion and the assurance of a successful harvest. The Goddess is heavy because she is pregnant and so is the earth.
